Camping and Fishing on the Mescalero Apache Reservation
Camping and Fishing on the Mescalero Apache Reservation is truly a wonderful family oriented experience. The general public is invited to camp and fish at any one of three Recreational Areas. The Mescalero Recreation Area, more commonly known as the Eagle Creek Lakes Recreation Area is located five miles west of Ruidoso. It contains XX primitive campsites, and XX RV hookups. Even closer to Ruidoso is the Rio Ruidoso Recreational Area also known as Upper Canyon or Ruidoso Cabins Recreation Area. This campground can developed campsites although there are no RV hookups. RVs are not recommended at this recreation area because.
On the southside of the Reservation, there is the Silver Lakes Recreation Area, with XX RV hookups, XX developed campsites, and XX primitive campsite or tent sites. This location features a well-stocked 10 acre lake. plenty of room to walk around, and a small convenience store.
Camping and Fishing Permits can be obtained at the entrance station of each recreation area with cash ONLY on a first come, first serve basis. If you desire to reserve a campsite, you may obtain a permit by printing the Purchase Camping Fishing Permit.
